What is Sulforaphane?
Let’s understand more about the tiny molecule that has provoked so much interest.
Effects of Sulforaphane on Health
Cancer & Carcinogens – Intestinal Health – Autism – Alzheimer’s Disease – Parkinson’s Disease – Skin Disorders – Aging – Eyes – Air Pollution – Diseases caused by Protein Misfolding
The dietary isothiocyanate sulforaphane targets pathways of apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, and oxidative stress in human pancreatic cancer cells and inhibits tumor growth in severe combined immunodeficient mice.

Autism Trial Support Group on Facebook.
In 2015, a test was conducted with 40 children with autism who showed the fever response. Some children took part in the test even if it was not known if they showed the fever response, since not all of them had had a fever. Children were asked to drink a tube of broccoli sprout juice a day for 4 weeks. Not all of them managed to drink the juices (mainly due to taste), but despite this, 50% of those participating showed an improvement. Click to read parents’ comments.

This is one of THE most important studies ever carried out on sulforaphane because it shows how sulforaphane helps stop a crucial mechanism called protein misfolding that causes many diseases including Type 2 Diabetes, Dementia, Huntingdon’s Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Sickle Cell Disease and Cataracts.

Abstract: The phenomenon of protein aggregation and amyloid formation has become the subject of rapidly increasing research activities across a wide range of scientific disciplines. Such activities have been stimulated by the association of amyloid deposition with a range of debilitating medical disorders, from Alzheimer’s disease to type II diabetes, many of which are major threats to human health and welfare in the modern world. It has become clear, however, that the ability to form the amyloid state is more general than previously imagined, and that its study can provide unique insights into the nature of the functional forms of peptides and proteins, as well as understanding the means by which protein homeostasis can be maintained and protein metastasis avoided.
[This study suggests that this mis-folding of proteins is the genesis of many conditions associated with neurological development or neurological decay. Other studies indicate that sulforaphane can stop or reverse this mis-folding.]

Learn More About Us:
Many years ago, Michael used to help people improve their financial health as a tax specialist. Then he decided instead to help them improve their physical health. Learn more about Our Story here. After much research, he started growing sprouts and, after many attempts, developed a unique system that produced perfect nutrient-rich sprouts every time. His propriety system ensures that the seeds get the optimum water, nutrients, humidity, temperature, air and hygienic growing conditions and retain their enzyme activity from the moment the seeds are soaked until the day the young shoots are harvested.
Michael is an inventor and his creative genius has produced a world exclusive product range of broccoli sprouts juices.
Many years ago, Lar’s practical skills were focused on creating cabinets and other furniture. He later turned to organic farming, distributing organic food boxes in Ireland.
Lars now works for Vegus Juices as Production Manager. He is the man who makes it all happen and, without Lar, there would be no sprouts.
Lar also helps with sales by establishing distributors and retail outlets.
In his spare time, Lar coaches GAA sports teams.
Although not officially employed, Sarah has been working with Vegus Foods for 8 years helping with their graphic design and marketing. She comes up with the designs and messages that bring Vegus Juices to life and help customers understand how wonderful they are. She finds this particularly challenging since customers buy the juices for reasons we’re not allowed to tell you about!
Sarah is passionate about using nutrition to heal and supporting health with natural therapies that rebalance the whole body and address the cause of illness, rather than using drugs to suppress symptoms which are only showing in the first place as a guide to help us heal the whole body!
And now meet Daisy:
Daisy is not really a member of our team but she helps out. After the wheatgrass has been harvested there is some stubble and a lot of root mass left behind. There are a lot of nutrients in it but the overall taste is not very good.
Many people would throw it all away but most of the farmers around our farm in Ireland have at least a few cows. So we give them that nice biomass and they feed it to their cows.
The cows love it!

About Broccoli Sprout Juice
Independent laboratories tested Vegus Foods’ Broccoli Sprout Juice to contain at least 25 micromoles of isothiocyanates including sulforaphane per 10 ml, which means one 40ml tube contains a huge 100 micromoles isothiocyanates including sulforaphane, see analysis report (right).
The Johns Hopkins Institute recommended 40 micromoles sulforaphane a day.
How Can I Get Enough Sulforaphane?
This is a great question and you can read here a detailed answer.
Just one tube of our Broccoli Sprout juice contains 250% of the amount recommended by the Johns Hopkins Institute.
Alternatively, you could eat:
2.6 kg / 5.3 lbs fresh broccoli… or
1.3 kg / 2.6 lbs fresh broccoli sprouts
*** We juice only young broccoli sprouts because at 5 to 6 days old sprouts contain over one hundred times more sulphoraphane per gram than fully mature broccoli. ***
Why is Sulforaphane Important?
There have been more than 1,700 peer reviewed studies on sulforaphane (here are just a few of these reports). To find out more about this amazing phytonutrient, please go to our section on sulforaphane or do a web search for sulforaphane. Alternatively you can watch this amazingly informative and well researched video created and published by Dr Rhonda Patrick.
Broccoli Sprout Juice is a Good Source of Nutrients
Broccoli Sprout juice contains minerals and vitamins.
Broccoli Sprout Juice Contains Enzymes
Raw Broccoli Sprout juice is abundant in enzymes that powdered, heat-treated juices and freeze-dried extracts do not contain. Enzymes help fully digest nutrients.
Disclaimer: At Vegus Foods, we are farmers and we make great juices but we are not doctors or scientists or nutritionists. We are not any kind of health care providers. If you need medical advice or require diagnosis or treatment we cannot give it to you. You must consult a qualified practitioner (but please tell them all about our juices!)
We love it when our customers tell us they are now healthy or are recovering from various ailments (you can use the internet to find out about what motivates our customers to buy broccoli sprout juice, broccoli sprout + beetroot juice or wheatgrass juice).
We also love sharing with you some of the 1700 published research studies that have been done on sulforaphane in broccoli sprout juice. The real reason why customers buy our juices will remain a secret because the current law does not permit us to tell the truth, but we can say this:
*** 90% of our customers love our juices so much that they buy again.***
On these pages you can read the story behind Vegus Foods and learn who is part of our hard working and dedicated team that does everything they can to ensure that your broccoli sprout juice and wheatgrass juice are the best they possibly can be.
